4 Envelopes is a tool for keeping your own records of your own money. You type the figures in and it adds them up.
It is not connected to any bank, it moves no money, and it is not financial advice. Every figure it shows is one you entered or a sum of ones you entered — if a figure is wrong, it is wrong because the entry was.
An account is created in the mobile app. The browser signs in to an existing one.
Keep your password to yourself; anyone holding it can read and change everything in the account. Tell us if you think somebody else is in it — resetting the password closes every other session.
Every new account gets 33 days of the whole service, from the moment it is created. No card is asked for and nothing is limited during it.
After the trial the service is a monthly subscription, bought inside the mobile app. App Store and Google Play require that for anything unlocked inside an app, so there is no other way to pay and we handle no payment ourselves.
The store sets the price in your country and shows you the final figure before you pay. It renews by itself until you cancel, and you cancel it in the store — in your Apple or Google account settings, not here. Deleting your 4 Envelopes account does not cancel a subscription.
If a payment fails, the store keeps trying for a few days; access continues for as long as it does. Refunds are the store’s to give under their own rules.
The account becomes read-only. Everything stays and stays readable — every account, every payment, every report — and only adding and changing stops. Settings, language, currency and rates keep working, because those are how you read your own history.
Nothing is deleted for not paying, and nothing is held hostage: the account can be deleted, in full, at any time.
What you enter belongs to you. We claim nothing in it and use it for nothing but running the service for you — see the privacy page, which says so in detail.
You can close the account whenever you like, from Settings, and everything goes with it.
The service is provided as it is, without a warranty that it will be available at every moment or free of every fault. It is one person’s work; it is looked after, and it is not a bank.
Use it for what it is for. An account used to attack the service, or to break the law, can be suspended or closed.
These terms change when the service does, and the date at the top is when they last did. Continuing to use the service after a change is how you accept it; if you do not, close the account.
